In the last few decades, the business of MICE and weddings has grown by leaps and bounds, making it one of the top pillars and revenue contributors to the tourism industry. In recent times, trends have changed drastically, with the consumers wanting much more; innovations, uniqueness and immersive experiences are now game changers for both these mammoths!
MICE TOURISM
The concept of MICE tourism is the result of globalisation and economic reforms; and is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the tourism industry. It was predicted by The World Economic Forum that the Indian economy will become the third largest in the world by 2030 and true enough, the current economic parameters prevailing in the country are helping India to emerge as a lucrative and enormous market for the MICE industry. As the global market opened post the pandemic fear, so did MICE tourism in India with the hospitality industry pulling out all stops to renew and reconnect with this lucrative segment. There emerged new and experiential travel trends in the phenomenon that was labelled the new normal! So much so, that travellers now expect a more discerning lifestyle approach during their travels, such as staying in luxury hotels, flying business class, experiencing local culture and cuisine, visiting iconic attractions and most of all, including their families on their work trips.
