The renowned Chaine des Rôtisseurs International gourmet organisation hosts the annual competition in a celebration of culinary talent and innovation. It is open to chefs under the age of 27, each of whom is given an identical box of ingredients from which they must prepare a dish for four people. There are regional, national, and international rounds, giving chefs a good opportunity to showcase the nuts to a wide audience of gourmands.
“It also provides the ideal opportunity to place macadamias in the spotlight as a sought-after, versatile ingredient for gourmet dishes,” according to Jill Whyte, chairperson of Green Farms Nut Company, a macadamia processor in Mpumalanga.
