Marina le Roux succumbed to the flames in her home on a farm in Memel.
Her husband, Koen, was injured by the fire that destroyed their home.
On Thursday, 26 September, strong winds resulted in at least four runaway veld fires that destroyed thousands of hectares of grazing and crops.
The areas worst affected included the Memel, Verkykerskop and Vrede regions. Hundreds of livestock were annihilated by the flames. The Memel district was particularly hard hit.
