Clearly happy to be back north of the border, His Majesty donned a kilt in Stewart hunting tartan to officially open 8 Doors Distillery in John O’Groats, Caithness, where he was greeted by owners Kerry and Derek Campbell before being given a tour of the site.
As well as hearing about the importance of sustainability in the distilling process, he was also invited to sample the whisky in the shop and fill one of the hogshead casks.
Kerry said: “We were honoured to welcome the King to 8 Doors Distillery and thoroughly enjoyed sharing our story and what makes our distillery so unique with him, as well as offering him the opportunity to fill a cask in our warehouse.
