We have partnered with Big Give's Christmas Challenge, which matches donations made through its platform pound for pound, doubling the amount raised.
Backed by a host of famous names and with a pot of £15m in matched funds available from philanthropists, foundations and companies - Big Give is supporting more than 1,000 charities in its aim to make this year's Christmas campaign its most successful yet.
Running from midday on 28 November until midday on 5 December, the campaign comes as a poll finds 25% of people plan to give less to charity this Christmas because of the cost-of-living crisis, while 20% can't afford to donate at all.
Big Give was founded in 2007 by recruitment businessman and philanthropist Sir Alec Reed to bring together charities and those who wanted to help them. It has raised £240m for good causes, with a target of £1bn by 2030.
Managing director Alex Day says: "With over £3 billion in public donations at risk due to the cost-of-living crisis, we are encouraging people to give what they can, big or small, and Big Give's Christmas Challenge will double that generous donation.
"Charities play a vital role in the social fabric of the UK, providing vital and life-changing services. They are in desperate need of support and the generosity of the public, alongside our match funders, really does make a major difference.
"We appreciate it is tough times for everyone and not everyone will be in a position to give. Those who can't donate can help raise awareness of the campaign so we can double the difference this Christmas."
