The King shared a sweet reference to his son the Prince of Wales when he and the Queen visited the country to mark the 25th anniversary of the Senedd.
Celebrating with members of the Welsh parliament, His Majesty spoke of Prince William’s growing relationship with the nation, saying it gave him “great pleasure”.
Noting his own 64 years and 44 days as Prince of Wales, the monarch said the anniversary of devolution was “a milestone on a journey which has been my privilege, all my life, to share with you, during times which have seen great change, profound sorrow and tremendous achievement.”
And he added: “Through it all, my respect and affection for the people of this ancient land have deepened with every passing year.”
