Looking dramatic in all black, Lady Gaga made a striking appearance at one of the most anticipated screenings of the Venice Film Festival, arriving by water taxi with her fiancé, tech investor Michael Polansky, for the premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux.
In director Todd Phillips's sequel to Joker, Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as failed comedian Arthur Fleck, who is now incarcerated in Gotham's infamous Arkham State Hospital. It is here where he meets and falls in love with Lady Gaga's character, anti-hero Harley Quinn, who is as disturbed as he is.
Speaking at the festival - where she turned heads on the red carpet in a sculptural Dior Haute Couture creation the singer and actress, 38, said that she had been "deeply moved" by the first film and "got to understand and see something that I may have never seen before".
Another plus was working with Gladiator star Joaquin - "a total breeze", she said.
"I really enjoyed it, and it was a completely different experience than anything I've ever had with an actor," she said of her co-star, who won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 2020 for his role as the DC Comics character.
