The Oscar winner arrived at the event, which was partnered by P&O Cruises, with 22-year-old Mia, her co-star in TV drama I am Ruth - and paid her a touching tribute when she was named Leading Actress.
"I am guaranteed to be the only one of the night to cry," said a visibly emotional Kate, 47, after kissing husband Edward Abel Smith and stepping on stage to collect the award. "If I could break this statuette in half, I would give the other half to my daughter. We did this together, kiddo," she said, adding that Mia's skills on set sometimes "took my breath away".
Mother and daughter were also winners in the style stakes. While Kate turned heads in a bodycon midi dress with an asymmetric neckline by Kookaï, Mia, whose father is director Jim Threapleton, to whom Kate was married from 1998 to 2001, looked chic in a silk monochrome jumpsuit.
NIGHT OF HIGHLIGHTS
There was more good news for the pair when the Channel 4 show, in which Kate played a single mother who discovers her daughter is self-harming, also triumphed in the Single Drama category.
Presented by Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan, the annual award show had a host of highlights. Strictly Come Dancing's Claudia Winkleman - reunited on the night with copresenter Tess Daly - won the Entertainment Performance award for fronting The Traitors, which also won Reality and Constructed Factual Show. A tearful Claudia, in her trademark dramatic make-up, said: "Sorry I don't know what to say... I can't get emotional because I'm wearing so much eyeliner... Thank you so much."
