After years of arrests and addiction, Lindsay Lohan left Hollywood, faced her demons and found love

Lindsay Lohan's life had been a mess for years. But in 2012, she got a big chance to redeem herself when a judge ended her felony probation term following one of her myriad brushes with the law - and gave the former child star some solid advice. "Obey all laws. It's not that hard. I know it's kind of hard when people are following you around all the time, but that's the life you chose," Judge Stephanie Sautner said, adding, "I'm not going to give you a lecture. Live your life in a more mature way, stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work."

Now a decade later Lindsay's turned her life around completely. "She was playing with fire in Hollywood. Lindsay partied hard and hung out with the wrong crowd. Toxicity surrounded her," says a source. "It took six arrests, jail time, and six stints in rehab to learn that no matter how many professionals are there to help, the only person that could save her was herself." Her recovery has been a long one, but she's brought herself back from the brink.

"Drugs and fame ruin says the everything," source, noting the actress was just 20 when she first reported to a treatment center in 2007. "Through hard work and commitment, though, Lindsay's come out the other side." She's healthier and happier than ever, adds the source: On July 2 - her 36th birthday - Lindsay even revealed she'd quietly married financier Bader Shammas, declaring herself "the luckiest woman in the world."
