METHOD
Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C fan/ gas mark 4. Unwrap the wheel of Camembert and place it in a suitable oven-proof dish. Slide the dish into the preheated oven and bake the cheese for approximately 10 minutes. This gentle warmth will soften the cheese and prepare it for caramelisation.
Remove the cheese from the oven and, if you prefer grilling, switch your oven to the grill setting. Alternatively, for a more dramatic effect, you can use a cooking torch to caramelise the sugar.
Sprinkle the top of the Camembert with the sugar, evenly coating the surface. Add a pinch of salt over the sugar, creating an exquisite balance of sweet and savoury that will elevate the flavour profile.
