Vernon in fa bit of a panic

As Vernon Kay turns 50, a source tells new the Radio 2 presenter has “mixed feelings” about reaching his milestone birthday

Vernon Kay enjoys a happy family life and a successful career – but a source has told new that the TV and radio presenter may have had “mixed feelings” about growing older as he approached his milestone 50th birthday on Monday 28 April.

Vernon has been married to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly, 55, for 20 years, and the pair have two daughters, Phoebe, 19, and Amber, 14. He’s also enjoyed 20 years in showbusiness, fronting TV programmes such as All Star Family Fortunes, Just The Two Of Us and Beat The Star , and last year he was “over the moon” when he took over as the new host of the mid-morning slot on BBC Radio 2.

However, the source told new, “Vernon had mixed feelings about turning 50. To him it just feels so old and he was in a bit of panic before it all happened. He has always liked to see himself as quite young and trendy – it only seemed like a few years ago he was being described as a fresh young talent.

“But he also feels so grateful to have got to 50 and to be married to Tess and have two beautiful and healthy daughters.”
