The nation has fallen in love with Stacey Solomon, and it’s easy to see why. When we catch up with the 32-year-old, she’s hilarious and utterly down-to-earth – and she even managed to maintain this attitude when it came to planning her recent wedding to Joe Swash.
The presenter and her actor beau Joe, 40, could have easily grabbed a megamoney deal when they finally tied the knot last month, but instead they offered their own wedding photos to the media in exchange for a charity donation.
They had their big day their way – totally private in the garden of their beloved Pickle Cottage, surrounded by their four sons, their baby daughter Rose, family, friends and self-assembled decorations.
And this keeping-it-real DIY ethos is the reason for our exclusive pre-wedding chat. Stacey has spent the day not in a hair salon but her bathroom, turning herself blonde with a £10 L’Oréal dye. It’s a real unveiling moment, both of her bridal look and her new job as part of the L’Oréal Paris glossy posse.
“If I can get in, anyone can!” she giggles.
For authenticity alone, our Stacey’s definitely worth it…
Hi, Stacey! Why did you want to be a blonde bride?
I love experimenting with hair colours but I feel like blonde is the colour I’ve been most of my life. I have fun mixing it up but when I thought about getting married, I always knew I wanted to go back to my most natural hair colour, so I can just feel as “me” as possible. Although this is not natural [laughs]!
