It feels like only yesterday that, at just a few weeks old, Junior Andre was introduced to the world on the cover of OK! magazine. A year later, in 2006, TV viewers had their first glimpse of the toddler on his parents’ reality show Katie & Peter.
Now, at 18 years old, the talented BRIT School graduate has his sights set on stardom, but he won’t be relying on the fame of mum Katie Price and dad Peter Andre to achieve success. He’s forging his own path in the music industry on his own terms with his eagerly-anticipated single Only One.
As we meet up to congratulate him on the release of his single, Junior is buzzing with excitement and eager to give us the backstory to his new track.
“Only One is about being in a generation where people claim they’re only interested in one person. Then a week later they’re chatting to a load of different people. I’m telling the story about how this one particular girl is different and I really do mean it from my heart – she’s the only one I want to know.”
His passion for music is infectious and it’s clear we’re not talking to a mere wannabe. Junior is a well-grounded young man for good reason. “I was born in the public eye and I don’t know any different,” he explains. “I’ve watched my parents go through life in the spotlight, but I think it helped me, particularly at the stage of life I’m in now.”
He credits his parents for preparing him for a solo career in the music business and for helping him become the charming individual he is today.
