Spearheading the charge to win over the hearts and minds of a new generation, the Princess of Wales has become a powerful force in the royal family, with some commentators calling her “the saviour of the monarchy”.
Poised and confident, Kate has come a long way from the university girlfriend of young Prince William, photographed falling over in her neon shorts at a roller disco. At 41, she now has the world’s eyes upon her. Whether she’s in a ballgown surprising Eurovision viewers with a piano performance or chatting to young charity workers in jeans and trainers, Kate seems to set the perfect tone every time.
But this is very much a team effort. Behind the scenes, a new breed of palace PR experts are blazing a trail in their efforts to bring a fresh strategy to communications and bolster the popularity of “Brand Wales”. From social media to styling, a lot of work goes into making something look so effortless.
Officially, the palace make no bones about the fact that they’ve taken a closer look at how they present the modern face of their employers, with a spokesperson for the Prince and Princess revealing to OK!, “In telling our stories, we have to ensure we are reaching audiences of all ages. And there is a big audience that is not potentially consuming their news in the traditional ways, so we have to go to them. It’s really important to the Prince and Princess of Wales that we are engaging those younger audiences in the work that we do.”
