His Majesty King Charles III was accompanied by members of the royal family as they attended two very special engagements for this year’s remembrance weekend.
On the Saturday, they joined a glittering audience at London’s Royal Albert Hall for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, a star-studded concert to remember ex-servicemen and women and to honour Queen Elizabeth II and her contribution to the Forces.
The King attended with his wife, Camilla, Queen Consort, siblings Anne, Princess Royal, and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and the Prince and Princess of Wales. Catherine paid her own tribute by teaming her black Self-Portrait gown with her late grandmother-in-law’s iconic four-strand pearl choker and drop earrings.
The crowd enjoyed a host of special performances during the concert. Actor Luke Evans opened the show with a stirring rendition of I Vow To Thee My Country, while opera star Andrea Bocelli was joined by his 10-year-old daughter Virginia and son Matteo, 25, to sing their new Christmas song The Greatest Gift.
Also performing, dressed in a jewel-encrusted blue gown, was EastEnders actress Shona McGarty. The star, best known for playing Whitney Dean in the soap, sang a beautiful rendition of Leonard Cohen’s ballad Hallelujah, accompanied by the Fourth Choir and a royal band.
