This Christmas was an extra-special one for Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine and her young family after they got the greatest gift of all – she is expecting baby number three! We can exclusively reveal the 38-year-old is six months pregnant and kicking off the year by sharing her joy.
“It just feels really nice,” Jennie tells us. “We’re so over the moon. The thought of adding to our family mix and chaos was the best Christmas present! I’m really excited for 2023 – it’ll be a special one.”
Jennie reveals she was on a camping trip with her husband of nearly six years, Chris Farr, and their children, Albert, eight, and Hilda, four, when she felt nauseous. The familiar symptoms prompted her to take a pregnancy test and she discovered she was five weeks along. “We were really thrilled,” she said, admitting the children weren’t “fully surprised”.
“They had talked about wanting [a sibling] before,” she says. “We had a scan and then showed the pictures to Albert and Hilda after school – they’re really excited. From day one [they’ve been] touching my tummy and talking to the baby. They talk to the baby every day!
“Albert was like, ‘OK, there’s another kid coming into this house. There’ll be even more sharing that’s going to have to happen.’”
Now over halfway, Jennie is marking off the milestones ahead of her April due date. And she admits her 12-week and 20-week scans were “emotional”, adding she felt “just relief and pure joy”.
