The stress of living up to her iconic late mother-inlaw, Diana, is wearing on Kate Middleton

The coat was a nice touch. On Sept. 27, Kate Middleton, newly crowned Princess of Wales, wore Welsh red - just like Diana, her late mother-in-law and the previous holder of the title, did on her first visit to the country in 1981. The LK Bennett design's official name? The Spencer. "That, of course, was Di's maiden name," says a source. "It was a subtle nod on Kate's part."

But it certainly didn't go unnoticed, just like everything else she does. "The spotlight on Kate is brighter than ever before. Since becoming Princess of Wales, the whole world is comparing her to Diana," says the source. And Kate, who also wore Di's pearl earrings in Queen Elizabeth II's funeral procession on Sept. 14, knows she can't make a single misstep. "She takes great pride in her title and appears to be transitioning into her role without a glitch, but she's feeling the pressure."
