HIGH FASHION BEAUTY!

For the longest time, Chanel and Dior reigned supreme when it came to fashion houses with legacy makeup and beauty lines. In fact, it was Chanel that launched the first-ever designer fragrance, Chanel Nᵒ5. While perfumes have always been a major part of luxury houses, these iconic fashion brands have made their foray into makeup and skincare as well. The reason for this expansion? It offers consumers a chance to get their first entry into luxury at an affordable price point and creates brand loyalty. It also makes great swag to show off on Instagram thanks to the Insta-worthy packaging.

Gucci

Gucci first launched its beauty collection in 2014 Giannini, who worked closely with makeup maven Pat McGrath to offer over 200 pieces ranging from eyeshadows to eyeliners. The pieces featured the signature Guccissima pattern, and black and gold packaging. Cut to 2019 when Alessandro Michele, the then creative director relaunched Gucci Beauty, introducing lipsticks in fun floral packaging and gold detailing.

The brand campaign that launched the lipsticks was quite iconic too, as it featured a model with crooked teeth - a departure from the gleaming white teeth that we've been so accustomed to seeing in beauty media. Gucci has also recently launched foundation and nail paint.
