"I love playing difficult women. I much prefer them to the nice moms," says actress Kelly Bishop, best known as the wealthy, no-nonsense matriarch Emily on Gilmore Girls. In her memoir The Third Gilmore Girl, out Sept. 17, the Tony winner, 80, revisits a career that went well beyond the 2000-2007 family drama. Bishop trained as a dancer, originating the role of A Chorus Line's Sheila on Broadway.
