More than 5 million people tuned in live to watch Gerry Turner marry Theresa Nist on Jan. 4, just five weeks after their engagement aired during the finale of the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelor. Three months later, on April 12, Gerry, 72, and Theresa, 70, announced on Good Morning America that they planned to separate. Later that day Gerry filed for divorce, citing an "irretrievable breakdown," according to court documents. "We've looked closely at our situation, our living situation and so forth, and we've kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it's probably time for us to dissolve our marriage," the retired restaurateur said.
