NEW THRILLER
Curfew
From Thu 10 October, Paramount+
An alternative reality where men are forced to stay home after dark in order to protect women is the setting for Paramount+'s compelling new thriller Curfew.
The six-parter, based on the novel After Dark by Jayne Cowie, stars Sarah Parish as no-nonsense DI Pamela Green, who's called to investigate when a woman is brutally murdered during the night and left on the steps of the Women's Safety Centre.
Pamela is convinced the killer is male. But how could that be possible in a society where all men live under The Women's Safety Act, introduced three years ago, which enforces a strict curfew from 7pm to 7am and tracks them by an ankle tag 24 hours a day? 'Pamela's own daughter was murdered three years before, and it was the last femicide before the curfew was introduced, so this case feels personal to her,' says Parish, 56.
'Pamela feels she let her daughter down by not keeping her safe and wants to atone for her death.
