Strike
Sunday & Monday, 9pm, BBC1 (box set, BBC iPlayer)
Determined and dishevelled private detective Cormoran Strike and his shrewd assistant-turned business partner Robin Ellacott are challenged like never before – both professionally and personally – as crime drama Strike returns this week.
The new four-part run, Strike: Troubled Blood, based on JK Rowling’s novel written under her pen name of Robert Galbraith, centres on a disturbing cold case, which sees Cormoran (Tom Burke) and Robin (Holliday Grainger) look into the vanishing of Margot Bamborough, a GP and young mother, who disappeared in 1974.
While there were rumours that Margot was the victim of an infamous serial killer, the police investigation at the time was unable to reach the truth. But now, as Cormoran and Robin track down Margot’s friends, colleagues and patients, they uncover fresh leads.
Here, Burke, 41, recently seen in The Wonder, and The Capture’s Grainger, 34, reveal all…
What can you tell us about the case? Burke Strike is approached by Anna Phipps, whose mother Margot went missing many years before. The case has never been solved. There are a lot of suspicious people lurking in the shadows and Strike and Robin end up going to a lot of different places, following their noses. Grainger This is their first cold case. They’ve taken it on for the personal story of Anna losing her mum and wanting to do right by her. They feel close to Margot by the end and want to know what’s happened to her.
