NEW COOKERY
MasterChef
Easter Monday, Tuesday & Friday, times vary, BBC1
John Torode and Gregg Wallace turn up the heat as the new series of MasterChef gets under way. Over the next eight weeks, 45 talented amateur cooks are whittled down to just one, who will be crowned MasterChef champion 2023.
TV&Satellite Week joined seasoned judges Wallace, 58, and Torode, 57, to learn more…
How impressive are the 45 contestants this year?
Torode There are some great stories going forward. The people I think are brilliant to watch are the ones who change – their inspiration changes once they find their style and, boom, off they go. This series we see ingredients like gochujang and chilli sauce. Miso is huge, with people using it in everything from ice cream to caramel sauce.
Wallace I’m just amazed self-taught people can reach such an extraordinary standard.
