Happy Death Day 2U
FILM4 9PM - 11AM ★★★★
COMEDY HORROR Highconcept horror Happy Death Day gets a sequel that’s equally quirky and even more inventive. This time, there’s some quantum jiggery-pokery to explain why luckless sorority girl Jessica Rothe has been dying over and over. It appears she’s been caught in a time loop inadvertently created by three of her fellow students. There are additional plot wrinkles in store, plus more blackly funny deaths as Rothe and her allies, including Israel Broussard, Phi Vu and Rachel Matthews, strive to put things right. The tone is more sci-fi than horror, although the first film’s creepy babymascot masks make a shuddersome return. Dir: Christopher Landon 2019, 15
