THE GREAT BRITISH BAKE OFF

TUESDAY, 8PM, C4 COOKERY

There’s a floral flavour to proceedings in the white tent of dreams as C4’s The Great British Bake Off serves up Botanical Week.

This Tuesday’s episode of the ever-popular competition sees judges Dame Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood challenge the remaining hopefuls to use a variety of flowers and herbs to spice up their bakes in a trio of tricky tasks. But will everything come up roses for them?

Here, in an exclusive interview, Dame Prue, 83, and Paul, 57, tell TV Times what’s on the menu…

How would you sum up Botanical Week?

DAME PRUE It’s interesting as a theme. Botanical means plant, so almost everything you can bake with is botanical, like currants or raspberries. What makes it different is if they can find herbs and spices that are unusual, or edible flowers. There are also floral flavours like rose or lavender. The Middle East uses those a lot but it’s tricky to get right.
