THE NEW JEWEL IN TOWN: LAB-GROWN DIAMOND JEWELLERY TAKES CENTRE STAGE
Diamond World|March - April 2024
Lab-grown diamond jewellery is not a fad. While many Indian retailers choose to be circumspect about jewellery laden with labgrown diamonds, which are chemically, optically and physically identical to natural diamonds, there is most definitely a revolution happening in this space, driven by demand backed by sheer affordability

THE NEW JEWEL IN TOWN: LAB-GROWN DIAMOND JEWELLERY TAKES CENTRE STAGE

Is jewellery set with lab-grown diamonds a fad? Some seem to think so. While others believe that eventually it will be looked at as fashion jewellery. However, going by the ground reality, fashion and fad are not words that encapsulate the remarkable change that is happening within the lab-grown diamond jewellery industry. This isn't just about buying jewellery; it's about making a statement a statement of style amalgamated with affordability.

They may be marketed as a sustainable alternative, which, perhaps, they are. However, stakeholders who are serious about lab-grown diamond jewellery as a category, and wholly believe in its future, seem to think that sustainability is just one small aspect of it. The sheer consistency, turnaround time, the flexibility it allows for innovation when it comes to designs, the remarkable clarity, and, more importantly, affordability, make this category lucrative. It is, hence, garnering demand, slowly, but surely, globally, as well as in India.

LAB-GROWN DIAMOND JEWELLERY MANUFACTURING IN INDIA

Shanay Parekh, the young mind behind Kira Diam's vertically-integrated labgrown diamond facility in Surat, is at the helm of this transformation. His words echo through the halls of his Surat facility, where craftsmanship intertwines with modernity, and where every diamond tells a story.

"We have all under one roof," Parekh asserts. "From growing, to manufacturing loose diamonds and jewellery, we provide an end-to-end solution to our retailers." But it is not just about the products; it is about the meticulous attention to detail that sets Kira Diam apart.

"We have four to five factories catering to every kind of product," Parekh explains.

"That's why we are able to provide the best finish for any particular piece," he adds.
