This FW'23, Louis Vuitton Returns To The Maison's Homeground In Paris, As Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquiere Celebrates All Things French From The People To The City

French Forever

This FW’23, creative director Nicolas Ghesquière decided to centre the collection around Paris, to celebrate the maison’s roots. It turns out to be an extraordinary sartorial love letter to the city, evoking the elegance of the French, and showing how it permeates every aspect of life in the country, from the people’s lifestyles to the arts to music and even of course, fashion.

The designer’s incredible vision of contemporary femininity combines beautifully with the maison’s heritage codes, and takes shape in statement silhouettes like bomber coats and jackets, A-line dresses, flowy floral slips and 3D garments. There is also the return of the GO-14 handbag, first seen at Ghesquière’s Louis Vuitton debut collection back in 2014.

The FW’23 campaign, fronted by brand ambassadors Jung Hoyeon, Deepika Padukone, Léa Seydoux and actress Elaine Zhong, was also shot in Paris, with each celebrity discovering the City of Love in her own way. The creative director tells us more about the inspiration and story behind his latest collection.

Your fall-winter collection is all about “French style”. That's a vast subject! A catch-all that can fit almost anything. How are you expressing it?
