A Model, International Speaker, and Commonwealth gold medallist in karate championship, Sandhya Shetty made a powerful debut in 'Dharavi Bank' with Suniel Shetty. She talks about her journey and forthcoming projects in a conversation with Seema Dhawan.

Your acting in 'Dharavi Bank' is so close to reality, how did you get into the skin of the character?

Basically, it starts from the experiences of what you see around. There is a lot more information available on the Internet as well and then the Director also explains it to us. In the web series, I have played the role of a South Indian (Tamil). Though I am not from Tamil yet from the southern part of India so it helped me a lot, the mannerisms etc. . I am basically from Mangalore and speak Tullu and Born and brought up in Mumbai but language can never be a barrier for an actor.

How did you bag the role of Parvathy 'Dharavi Bank'?

Kunal Shah, the casting director is my college senior, he called me and suggested this role but he made it clear that in the first season it's a brief role, totally deglamorized but quite significant. And in the second season it will be picked up. I thought like an actor, The role was very simple, deglamorized but extremely challenging with a big cast. It was number one rated 9.7 on IMB. I am quite happy. I am a blessed child. I got everything that my heart wanted. If you are born and brought up in Mumbai and know someone in the Industry, that is certainly an asset since you get an entry and it makes your journey a bit easy but later you have to prove your talent.

How was it working with one of the very finest actors Suniel Shetty?

I'm glad my debut in OTT happened alongside Anna (Suniel Shetty); he was quite kind to me and always guided me on sets.
