Louis Vuitton's pret-a-porter homme studio imagined its autumn/winter 2023 pre-collection as a two-act ode to the desert: the heat of a race, and the luxuriance of an oasis.

Maybe it’s the effect of Dune, but deserts seem to be having a moment in the zeitgeist. The latest to tap on sandy plains for inspiration is Louis Vuitton. Its studio for men’s ready-to-wear design has dubbed its autumn/winter 2023 pre-collection ‘The Desert Race’, named for the off-road motorsport. More abstractly, the brand cites adaptability as inspiration: the idea of community—a big thing, minted during the Virgil Abloh era—leaning on each other in times of change, and adjusting to different circumstances.
