In India, the food sector has emerged as a high-growth and highprofit sector due to its immense potential for value addition, particularly within the food processing industry. The Food Services sector is expected to have generated direct employment for 5.5-6 million people in the financial year 2016, which is expected to increase to 8.5-9 million by the year financial year 2021. Indirect employment has seen a growth at CAGR of four per cent from 2013-2016 and expected to grow six per cent till 2021. The fine dining segment was growing at a healthy rate of around 15 per cent and the fine dine market size was estimated to be US$ 95 million in 2013, forecasted to reach US$ 195 million by 2018.”
Looking at the changing market trends and consumers becoming more receptive towards eating out twice in a week or trying out new cuisines for a change, it’s now, high time for food chains offering Japanese cuisines to flourish in India and garner hefty returns.
