HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN THIS PROJECT?
The owners are both lawyers, with a son, seven, and daughter, three. They bought the house in 2018 then commissioned architects to create an open-plan kitchen and living space, as well as installing new bathrooms. I was delighted when they shortlisted me to design three living rooms and three bedrooms, after finding my business, Kinder Design (kinderdesign.co.uk) on a platform called Design For Me (designfor-me.com).
WHAT WERE THE HOMEOWNERS' BIGGEST PRIORITIES?
With several living spaces linked by glass partition doors, it was important to get each zone working properly and give them all a point of difference. We felt one of the rooms should be the daytime family playroom and that the middle room with less natural light should be the evening/grown-up entertaining space. The front room became a library-type space for quiet time away from the family, to read the Sunday papers or take a quick work call. My clients also wanted to bring the house to life by adding more detail and layering to the interiors with beautiful storage furniture, rugs, lights and ottomans.
