From covering the top of an extension or garage, to designing an eye-catching display for a modern new build, there are many benefits to incorporating a green roof into your home. Also known as living roofs, grass roofs and sedum roofs, this style of roof can be fully or partially covered with an array of different plants and grasses. As well as being eco friendly, they also help to soften the look of a rooftop to enable a building to blend into its surroundings.
“Green roofs have benefits in increasing garden space, regulating indoor and outdoor temperatures, reducing polluting particulates, providing wildlife habitats, reducing noise, limiting fire spread between buildings and slowing the flow of rainfall from roof to drains to reduce flooding risk,” says Guy Barter, chief horticulturist at the RHS. “They also look good!”
