Living room
The living room is full of Maya's treasures and heirlooms. 'I go with my instinct when I'm shopping,' she says. 'If I find a fantastic piece I'll buy it and work out where to put it later."

HOME NOTES
WHO LIVES HERE?
Maya Hendrix, a teacher and jewellery designer (sarcastikjewels.com), lives here with her daughter, Nina, 10, and Africa the cat.
THE PROPERTY
A four-storey Victorian townhouse in west London.
After relocating from Paris to this West London townhouse, Maya Hendrix has transformed every room with clever storage ideas, eclectic vintage finds and cheerful pops of colour.
WHAT WAS IT LIKE WHEN YOU MOVED IN?
'The house was really different when I moved in three years ago with my daughter Nina. It was nice and very charming, in a country house kind of way, and didn't seem like it needed much work. But once I started to peel back the layers, I discovered an awful lot needed updating: the electrics and the plumbing needed re-doing and there was damp in the basement. I thought, "OK, if we're doing that, let's go for a complete overhaul",' she remembers.
WHAT WORK HAS BEEN DONE?
The work took a year and a half in all and, because the stucco-fronted house is Grade II-listed, everything was done methodically and carefully. Maya brought in Émilie Mauran, founder of EMR Architecture (emrarchitecture.com): 'I wanted an architect and interior designer with vision, who would work collaboratively and I found that in Émilie,' she says.
