Founder and interior designer at Touched Interiors, Kunal Trehan was tasked with transforming this impressive property in Holywood, Co. Down, to ensure its new interior was reflective of its stunning facade.
Attention to detail was everything and Kunal, a design expert on BBC’s Virtually Home, spent some two years on the design for this six-bedroom property before his team then undertook the full custom fit-out.
Speaking to Ireland’s Home Interiors & Living, he explains how he approached the project, what the brief was and how his team ensured they surpassed every expectation for the luxurious space.
THE INSPIRATION
‘This was a very large home with an iconic architectural history and we needed to undertake an interior that fitted the outside aesthetic of this beautiful and iconic residence. The client wanted something that had a sense of luxury, elegance, glamour, substance – that whole package tied into one. Thankfully they had complete trust in me and my team and were happy to go with our vision. It was important to the client that we used the best quality materials and best craftsmanship available throughout the house. They have a real love and appreciation for one-off pieces so with everything that we put in we tried to view it almost as a piece of art that could create a standalone impact. Exquisite stone, brass, fine woods and veneers were all used and were part of the initial brief that acted as our inspiration.
Everything in this home was custom made for the client and every last detail was considered meticulously. We spent two years designing this property to ensure everything was exactly right and then a full-turnkey fitting which lasted six months.
