AS A LOVER OF horology and art, TimeForArt is my favourite watch event of the year. Timepieces from collaborations with guest artists are presented by participating maisons at this Swiss Institute festival, which debuted in New York in 2022 and has seen some of the most exceptional, one-of-a-kind creations.
These include Arnold & Son’s Spiderweb Watch with British artist Matt Copson, featuring a metal spider web set against a white background that glowed in the dark, and Chopard’s L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25 TimeForArt Edition with its white gold dial adorned with an engraved grinning skull based on the mysterious calavera from the Mexican Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
Another example of captivating excellence was Maurice Lacroix’s Aikon designed with Thai street artist Benzilla. Its inspiration came from the chromatic brilliance of 1960s minimalist sculptors, such as John McCracken and De Wain Valentine.
