THERE'S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THE GLASSHOUSE
August Man SG|Issue 209 (January 2025)
As an important part of the YTL Hotels portfolio, Edinburgh's The Glasshouse isn't just the finest in urban Scottish luxury hospitality, but an important component of Dato' Mark Yeoh's vision for his hotel group.

THERE'S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT THE GLASSHOUSE

WHEN ONE CONSIDERS The Glasshouse, perhaps the most prominent hotel in the heart of Edinburgh, Malaysia doesn’t immediately come to mind. The most eagle-eyed might observe that the hotel’s official tartan follows the colours of the Malaysian flag. But then again, many nations use some combination of white, red and blue in their iconography.

Its suites are also named after famed distilleries in Scotland—I’ve stayed in the Glenfiddich Suite, which has its own private terrace overlooking the Edinburgh City Centre from four storeys above. It is one of the property’s impeccably designed rooms and suites, each exuding an air of refined elegance. The Glenfiddich Suite is a spacious 76 sqm, featuring king-sized beds draped in luxurious linens, and floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe the room in natural light. Guests are even treated to a complimentary dram of the spirit that inspired their room. Recent refurbishments have introduced plush new carpet flooring, further enhancing the overall sense of luxury and comfort.
