WHEN ASKED ABOUT how he felt being the first Malaysian fashion designer to dress a celebrity for the Academy Awards, Dickson Lim expressed nothing short of excitement and joy for his accomplishment. At only 24 years old, Lim has already made a name for himself as a contemporary fashion designer that pushes the limits in men’s tailoring, both for the local and international fashion scenes.
Having been a part of high-profile shows and awards, the young Sarawakian artist officially made his debut at this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Kuala Lumpur (MBFWKL), alongside several other homegrown fashion labels.
To understand the impact of Lim’s work, one needs to witness his fashion shows personally. Lim had the honour of opening the night with his latest Spring/ Summer 2024 collection. Keeping his unique approach in mind, the DICKSON LIM fashion show was split into two parts – the first showcasing his best designs up to the present, and the second part being his highly anticipated collection.
