Like other learning environments at CIS, the new Kindergarten Wing has been designed to support the school's inquiry- and play-based programme, where students investigate and explore the world around them. It's a space that provides opportunities for teachers to take young children and learning into the natural environment outside, as the classrooms are directly connected to the Outdoor Discovery Centre.
In this newly constructed outdoor area, children are surrounded by leafy trees, lush gardens, moving water, natural tunnels, grassy hills, a sound garden and creative play spaces, plus sand and water areas - all surrounded by a tricycle and running track.
By playing with mud, water, sand and objects such as sticks, stones and rope, kids can engage their imagination and creative thinking skills while solving problems at the same time, as well as learning about the environment and the concept of sustainability.
