Mark Levinson is an unashamedly luxury brand and its decision to enter the competitive market for Bluetooth headphones is something of a surprise. What isn't quite so surprising is that its N°5909 makes absolutely no compromises whatsoever, offering "luxury listening on the go", with hi-res audio support, impressive battery, active noise cancellation (ANC) and a number of versatile connectivity features.
The build quality is impeccable, with the headband and hinges constructed out of lightweight but sturdy aluminium. The adjustable headband and replaceable earpieces are wrapped in leather and padded with memory foam, and the earpieces can be chosen with a metallic tinted paint in either black, red or silvery-grey 'ice pewter'. The headphone weighs 340g, but feels light and comfortable enough to wear for long periods with no trouble at all.
That's just as well, since the N°5909 also provides impressive battery life (30 hours even with noise cancelling turned on or 34 when it's off). If you're travelling with a laptop, a quick 15-minute charge via the USB-C port gives an extra six hours of use.
