Luxury marques have a new formula for driving their brand's aspirational lifestyle and pamper those waiting for their vehicles to be tuned up - and it involves fewer cars, and more freshly baked pastries and barista-brewed java.
Take Lexus' recently refreshed Leng Kee Road boutique, where the Japanese automaker coupled new elements like zen-inspired design touches and a VIP lounge for its ultra-premium L-series customers with a slice of omotenashi from homegrown brands Patisserie Cle and Brawn & Brains.
The former serves up brunch bites and pastries that call back to Lexus' heritage such as a red bean cake accented with umami-rich red miso from the brand's birthplace of Aichi - while the latter sells coffee made from a bean blend customised for the marque.
A similar space was unveiled along with the two-storey Porsche Studio in Guoco Midtown earlier this year. Cafe Carrera, dreamt up with local bakery chain Baker & Cook, features cakes and snacks adorned with edible icons of Porsche past. Think pretzels served with a pat of butter shaped like the legendary 911, or an eclair with a white chocolate crown bearing the brand's logo.
