Vinn Chokkhatiwat and Patararin Pongprasit, the duo behind the innovative Thai brand, discuss gradual growth and how they hope to use fashion to make a difference

Vinn Patararin

Vinn Chokkhatiwat and Patararin Pongprasit are the designers behind Vinn Patararin, a Thai brand that blends fashion design and technology. Its distinctive identity pretty much embodies the word “multidisciplinary”.

“We believe that design is not limited to any particular aspect,” says Vinn tells Tatler. “We combine fashion and architectural design, but we don’t confine ourselves to specific disciplines. We get inspiration from our blend of perspectives and our travels to various countries. From different design perspectives and the stories of each collection, our work emerges as an experiment in design, materials and culture. Our first collection was launched in Copenhagen, then we had the opportunity to showcase our work in Paris and Malaysia before becoming known in Thailand.”

The duo met when both were studying fashion in Paris. They worked on a fashion project for fun, and were so confident in its potential, they submitted it to Copenhagen Fashion Week 2013. Vinn would go on to do an internship at Iris van Herpen, while Patararin undertook one at Azzedine Alaïa; influences of both design houses can be seen in Vinn Patararin designs.
