As the sun-drenched days of summer beckon, Véronique Nichanian's latest menswear collection for Hermès emerges as a masterclass in fluidity and effortless sophistication. Unveiled at Paris Fashion Week in June last year, the spring-summer 2025 line-up is a poetic celebration of the season's carefree spirit, blending the house's signature refinement with a breezy, coastal aesthetic. Nichanian's artistic statement captures the essence of her vision: “A sweet summer. A collection, grazed by a gentle breeze, melts into cityscapes, into the horizon.”
The collection’s colour palette, a subtle interplay of aquatic tones and earthy warmth, mirrors the changing hues of a seaside landscape. Turquin blue, ocean blue and navy evoke the depths of water, while softer, warmer shades such as buvard pink, matcha and lychee add depth. These colours converse with neutral ecru, mist and white, creating a palette that is as sophisticated as it is serene—perfectly capturing the essence of a luxurious beach getaway.
This fluidity of colour is echoed in the designs themselves. Pieces transition seamlessly from day to night, embodying Nichanian’s vision of a wardrobe that offers endless possibilities. “To choose them is to give them one, two, three lives,” the artistic director of Hermès menswear explains.
Indeed, this adaptability is at the heart of the collection: a lambskin sweatshirt featuring an equestrian drawing, for example, stands as both a casual staple and a statement of quiet luxury, while a sleeveless bomber jacket in white leather balances casual ease with a sharp, elegant edge.
