For those with varying physical and cognitive needs, travelling—and being away from the comforts that make everyday life easier to navigate—can be overwhelming and off-putting. Thankfully, these hotels go above and beyond to ensure a safe and welcoming space, with thoughtful features that ensure all guests can experience the world’s most beautiful destinations with ease. All without sacrificing luxury.
Whether it’s purpose-built calming spaces for sensory-sensitive individuals, pool lifts at a five-star private island resort, or wheelchair-height seating at one of London’s most coveted cocktail bars, these hotels make room for everyone.
ANI PRIVATE RESORTS
The founder of Ani Private Resorts, Tim Reynolds, has been a wheelchair user since 2000 after a car accident left him paralysed. So, when he retired from life on Wall Street to realise his dream of building beautiful resorts around the world, making them accessible to those with physical disabilities was a no-brainer.
Reynolds was heavily involved in the design and planning of Ani Private Resorts’ four properties in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Anguilla and the Dominican Republic, making sure that all are fully wheelchair accessible while ensuring that the luxury aesthetic was never compromised. At all the properties, slopes are softened to gentle gradients, every staircase is complemented by an adjacent lift and pools are outfitted with pool lifts, ensuring everyone is physically able to enjoy a dream luxury holiday in some of the world’s most beautiful destinations.
