Lyn Traill, 81, Alexandra Headland, Qld
Through all the wins and losses, I still feel truly lucky, I thought, flicking through the pictures of my four weddings.
I had just celebrated my 79th birthday and was reflecting on my past.
At 19, I'd married for the first time and had three beautiful kids, Vicki, now 59, Simon, 52, and Matt, 51. I'm also a proud grandma to Joel, 33, Cameron, 32, Jack, 30, and Alexandra, 27.
After 20 years, my first husband and I parted ways.
Marrying my second husband when I was 45, we split after seven years.
Husband number three appeared on the scene a few years later, but it wasn't meant to be.
Then I found love, aged 64, when I met Mick, then 59.
Back in the '60s, I'd been in love with the lead singer of my favourite band, The Purple Hearts, who I'd watch on television.
Amazingly, I realised Mick was my old crush!
Proposing after just three weeks, he and I got married five months later.
We'd been married seven years when, sadly, Mick was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
There will be someone else,' my brave hubby told me, urging me to find love again once he was gone.
But I refused to believe that was even possible.
He was only 67 when he died. We'd been married for eight glorious years.
At first, I lived in a fog, but slowly I learned to cope with the grief.
Then a few days after my 79th birthday, and eight years after Mick passed, Vicki suggested I put up a profile on a dating site.
Why not? I thought. It might be fun to see what responses I got at this age!
