MOST goalkeepers would just be pleased to get on the scoresheet once in their careers, but then Dan Atherton is like no other goalkeeper.
Not only has the 24-year-old stopper excelled in keeping goals out at one end for Warrington Town this season, he has also discovered a rather handy penchant for scoring at the other.
Back in October, the former New Saints and Hyde United keeper netted the first goal of his career to earn Mark Beesley’s Yellows a last-gasp 1-1 home draw with Farsley Celtic in National League North.
And he was at it again last Saturday after popping up to dramatically head home a second last-minute leveller for the Wire as they battled back from 2-0 down with two minutes to go to snatch a point against Alfreton Town.
“I have no idea where it’s come from, it’s certainly not planned,” the former New Saints and Hyde United keeper told The NLP.
