IT'S ABOUT CREATING MEMORIES

STEVE McKimm says the FA Cup replay storm isn’t about money – it’s the chance to make memories just like Cray Valley PM did this season.

IT'S ABOUT CREATING MEMORIES

McKimm’s Step 4 promotion hopefuls enjoyed their own moment in the spotlight this season when they went to League One Charlton Athletic and held them to a 1-1 draw.

That led to a first round replay at their cosy Artic Stadium home in front of the live TV cameras.

Under the new plans revealed by the FA and the Premier League this week, replays from the first round proper will be scrapped from next season.

Despite promises of an extra £33m to be spread out across the game, the news has been met by a fierce backlash.

While the prize money and broadcast fee were hugely welcome for the Isthmian North Millers this season, McKimm says cash in the bank is a bonus – the lifelong memories mean even more.

“I think it’s disgraceful, I think it’s disgusting and I won’t be alone with those thoughts,” McKimm told The NLP.
