DAN Cann refuses to let motor neurone disease force him to quit Hamworthy United – and his chairman is with him ‘every step of the way’.

WE ARE UNITED IN AID OF DAN

The Hammers manager and ex-Poole Town and Wimborne Town striker, 38, delivered his devastating MND diagnosis via social media this week but vowed it would be business as usual at the County Ground for as long as possible.

“Openly, with my symptoms it’s what I expected, but it still has been a shock to me and my beautiful family to say the least,” Cann’s post explained.

“Anyone who knows me will know I’ll fight this all the way, I am in good spirits and plan to continue with life normally for as long as I can, including work and my beloved Hamworthy United.”

Well wishes poured in from the Non-League fraternity for a man who stayed committed to the Hammers during last season’s collapse.
