Bournville were on course to celebrate only their third win of the season in front of around 100 of their former players who had attended a pre-match lunch until Hatch burrowed over from close range two minutes from time to secure a hard-earned bonus point win for Clifton.
Last season, Clifton ran up 121 points in their two meetings with Bournville, but there was never a chance of that being repeated as the Chocolate Men have tightened up their defence under the supervision of former Scotland centre Alex Grove.
“We were coming back from two losses and Bournville have got eight losing bonus points, so we knew that coming here it was going to be tough,” said Clifton head coach Luke Cozens.
