It was a day where history was made and one which West’s match winner Joe Byrne will never forget.
Held at Manchester Rugby Club, the game was played in front of more than 500 watching supporters from far and wide.
What was expected to be a Barbarian style game turned into a real game of rugby with both sides showing their class, demonstrating great skills in attack and power in defence.
From the outset, both teams showed great early promise only to be caught short of the tryline.
North East started the game the strongest and we’re pushing towards the tryline only to be thwarted by stern defence.
