Twenty-six per cent (6) of the 23 candidates who are contesting the assembly by-polls in five constituencies have criminal cases against them. At the same time, two candidates (9%) have serious criminal cases including those of forgery, extortion, robbery, dacoity and an attempt to murder charges against them.
The assembly by-polls for the Porbandar, Manavadar, Vijapur, Khambhat, and Vaghodia constituencies in Gujarat will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls scheduled on May 7, 2024.
